Description/Notes: Probably the second best known falls in the state of Maryland, it is also the highest according to Maryland Geologic Survey. Taller than the Great Falls of the Potomac by a whopping two feet, this falls consists of a moderately sized 78 foot cascade, rather than a straight drop. This location will always be crowded, especially during the summer. People frequently climb the falls or swim in the water below, both of which are not advised and banned by park policy. I have personally seen somebody fall on the rocks, and that individual is lucky to be alive. For more information and directions to the park, consult the park website, which will also tell you that like most state parks, this is a fee area.
